Awarded a prize (from left:Wu Yi-Xuan,Yang Xin-Yun ,Zhou Qin-Jun, Kai-Wei Juang, Hou Hui-Ying) NCYU Department of Agronomy Shows Remarkable Achievements in Civil Service Examinations

Results of the Civil Service Senior Examinations this year came out just recently. As many as 20 students of the Department of Agronomy, National Chiayi University, passed the Civil Service Senior Examinations in the agricultural technology category, accounting for a third of the total successful candidates. Among the NCYU students that passed the exams, Hou Hui-Ying, Yang Xin-Yun and Wu Yi-Xuan are current students. Wu is the only candidate who passed the Special Examination for Indigenous Persons in the agricultural technology category. In addition to scholarships offered by NCYU, an award ceremony was held by the Department of Agronomy at the weekly assembly for the current students who passed the civil service examinations. A public exam sharing session was also organized to offer preparation advice to students who plan to join the civil service examinations.

To encourage current students to challenge themselves, Zhou Qin-Jun, General Manager of Yeu Ming Tai Chemical Industrial Co., Ltd., who is an outstanding alumnus of NCYU, offers a scholarship program for students studying in the department. A scholarship of NT$10,000 will be awarded to students who pass the Civil Service Senior Examination during their college years, and a scholarship of NT$6,000 to students who pass the Civil Service Junior Examination. Today, he attended the ceremony to present the scholarships to the first-year graduate student Hou Hui-Ying, and senior students Yang Xin-Yun and Wu Yi-Xuan, in recognition of their achievement of passing the Civil Service Senior Examinations in the agricultural technology category as current students. They serve as role models for all the juniors.

During the sharing session, the three students suggested the juniors who are looking to pursue a career in the civil service to review their professional test subjects learned during the first three years of college. Since several of the professional test subjects are required for the Civil Service Senior Examinations, a solid knowledge of them will help in preparing for the exam. Keeping themselves updated on the latest knowledge and policies on agriculture would also be of help.

Hou Jin-Ri, Associate Professor of the Department of Agronomy who used to serve as instructor of their class, mentioned that Hou Hui-Ying, Yang Xin-Yun, and Wu Yi-Xuan, though not having the best academic achievement in the class, have studied hard to prepare for the agronomy professional test subjects. He believed that diligence makes a difference, and, as long as the young students work hard, it is not difficult for them to pursue further studies or enter the workforce.

This year, there are ten NCYU students passing the Civil Service Senior Examination in the agricultural technology category: Lin Xin-Lian, Lin Ying-Tong, Shi Nian-Hao, Li Si-Ying, Li Jia-Sheng, Hou Hui-Ying (first-year graduate student), Lin Yu-Bao, Hong Chen-Pu, Li Fang-Lin, and Lin Fang-Zhu. There are also ten students who passed the Civil Service Junior Examination in the agricultural technology category: Li Qi-Rong, Huang Yu-Lun, Lin Xin-Lian, Jiang Zhen-Yi, Huang Yu-Qin, Wu Pei-Yun, Chen Yao-Yun, Li Xin-Ying, Yang Xin-Yun (senior student), and Shi Ya-Jing. Twenty students passed the Civil Service Senior Examinations. It is also noteworthy that senior undergraduate Wu Yi-Xuan is the only one who passed the Level Three and Four Special Examination for Indigenous Persons in the agricultural technology category. NCYU teachers and students all take pride in her achievement.
