NCYU President Chiou Yi-Yuan(Rear middle) and Winning team NCYU Department of Marketing and Tourism Management Wins Three First Prices in National Project Competitions

Results of the “UPLAN Cup Fantasy Journey Project Competition” were recently revealed. First prizes in both the domestic and foreign groups went to students of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, National Chiayi University. Consisting of students including Hong Jia-Wen, Chen Xuan and Qiu Wei-Yu from the bachelor’s program, “The Attitude of Traveling” team placed first in the domestic group. The “Let’s Go! Little Bourgeois” team, comprised of graduate students such as Jian Jia-Xuan, Zhu Min-Hua and Wu Meng-Xuan, was first prize winner in the foreign group. Moreover, the team composed of five students from the bachelor’s program, including Cai Qi-Yun, Zhuang Man-Jun, Xie Zong-Xian, Zheng Pei-Xuan and Lin Jing-Xuan, won first prize in “2016 GROUNDFIVE Creative Marketing Project Campus Competition.”

Zhu Min-Hua, leader of the “Let’s Go! Little Bourgeois” team that placed first in the foreign group, said they drew inspiration from the Scoot Airline’s direct flight to Singapore. The result was itineraries meticulously orchestrated and highly viable, which has won accolades from Sun Shu-Mei, Deputy General Manager of Scoot Airline. The team members were dressed in Southeast Asian style during the contest. They challenged the convention by giving an oral presentation barefoot, donned in Southeast Asian clothes, and have profoundly impressed and won the hearts of the judges.

According to Hsiao Chih-Hui, chairman of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, they would not have been acclaimed by the judging panel were it not for their careful financial planning and creative marketing projects crafted brilliantly, precisely and unconventionally. Take the team led by Cai Qi-Yun for example. In October this year, they won second place at National Collegiate Creative Marketing Project Contest 2016, in its fourth edition, in the creative marketing category, and first place at 2016 GROUNDFIVE Creative Marketing Project Campus Competition among 198 contestants in mid December. Team leader Cai Qi-Yun designed five special figures and the image of “The Fearless Floating Island.” They grabbed the attention of the judges with their attempt to reshape the brand image of GROUNDFIVE, create a dynamic official website, as well as plan for a wide spectrum of physical retailers or interesting online sales activities.

Hong Jia-Wen, leader of “The Attitude of Traveling” team, expressed her gratitude to teachers Liu Qiong-Ru and Hsiao Chih-Hui for their constant advice throughout months of preparation prior to the contest. Winning the award was not only an honor to the university, but has helped enhanced the popularity of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, NCYU. They have fulfilled the motto of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management: “reach the world and let more people see the good of NCYU teachers and students.”
