National Chiayi University signed an academic exchange memorandum with Youngstown State University, U.S., on the Lantan campus on the morning of 19th. According to the memorandum, both parties will collaborate in teacher-student exchange, research and presentation, symposiums and academic conferences, exchange of academic materials and literature, and short-term courses. Through the cooperation, NCYU President Chiou Yi-Yuan hoped both universities would be able to provide the students with opportunities for overseas internship and continuing learning, and teachers with chances of overseas visits for research cooperation.

President Chiou indicated that Martin Abraham and Nathan Myers, President and Vice President of Youngstown State University, have visited the Department of Computer Sciences and Information Engineering and Department of Applied Chemistry, NCYU, and joined panel discussions with representatives from the Teachers College and College of Humanities and Arts. They also discussed on possibilities of course collaboration with representatives from the Department of Physical Education, Health and Recreation, Department of Early Childhood Education, and Department of E-learning Design and Management. In the days to come, they will seek to integrate their competitive advantages and work together in offering academic exchanges or joint degree programs in such fields as information engineering, biomechanics, music and art.

Located in the Ohio State and founded in 1908, Youngstown State University features six colleges including the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Williamson College of Business Administration, Beeghly College of Education, College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, College of Creative Arts & Communication, and Bitonte College of Health and Human Services.
