Owing their success to their alma mater’s professional training, the distinguished alumni of National Chiayi University have since 2014 been organizing the R.O.C. National Chiayi University Distinguished Alumni Association, which was finally founded on the morning of March 5th. After graduation, the alumni have excelled and achieved success in their respective career, whether governing a company or serving as school principals. In addition to setting up the Distinguished Alumni Association, they raised funds worth NT$10 million for the baseball programs. The 1st Chairman Inauguration Ceremony kicked off at Zuei-Suei Hall on the Lantan campus, NCYU, during which NCYU President Chiou Yi-Yuan presented a certificate of election to Lin Guo-Cun, Chairman of the Distinguished Alumni Association on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior. The ceremony was attended by more than a hundred distinguished alumni, members of the Board of Supervisors and NCYU alumni.

Chairman Lin Guo-Cun indicated that distinguished alumni are selected during the anniversary celebration, which is held on an annual basis, and nearly 300 distinguished alumni have been selected so far. The founding of the Distinguished Alumni Association aimed to recognize the contribution of the alumni to their alma mater. During the 1st Meeting of the Board of Supervisors held on March 5th, “NCYU Kano Baseball Funds” was established to revive the splendor of the Kano baseball team of Kagi Agricultural and Forestry School, feted as “the Unequaled Kano” for being placed runner-up in the Japan Koshien games in 1931. In addition to the announcement of the unveiling of the Distinguished Alumni Association, they also declared having reached the goal of raising funds of at least NT$10 million.

Donations were made during the ceremony, spearheaded by Chairman Lin Guo-Cun who donated NT$3 million, followed by Vice Chairmans Chen Zhe-Fang, Wang Ming-Wen and Zhou Qin-Jun who donated NT$1 million respectively, and Zhang Yong-Lin, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, and Chai Wu-Zhang, Honorary Chairman of the NCYU National Alumni Association, who made donations worth NT$1 million respectively. Their efforts inspired an immediate response from the attending members of the Board of Supervisors. Thanks to their generous donations, funds worth NT$10 million were raised for the baseball programs. The alumni regarded it as an auspicious beginning, hoping it could encourage more alumni to make contributions to their alma mater and chip in for the training programs for the NCYU baseball team. By helping cultivate an outstanding baseball team, they hoped to restore the original glory of Kano for the world to enjoy.
