  To enhance students’ global competencies and global perspective, National Chiayi University is dedicated to creating overseas academic exchange programs for teachers and study exchange programs for students. A NCYU delegation, led by President Chiou Yi-Yuan, arrived at University of Miyazaki (UOM), Japan, on March 8th for an academic visit. On March 10th, they signed an academic cooperation agreement and memorandum on student exchange, which involves cooperation in the form of exchange programs for teachers and students. According to the student exchange programs, both universities will offer student exchange and tuition-free programs.

  NCYU President Chiou indicated that exchange visits had been carried out frequently well before entering into the agreement with UOM. The UOM delegation, led by the president, had thrice visited NCYU. Their latest visit was in December 2016, when UOM President Tsuyomu Ikenoue led their academic exchange delegation to visit NCYU. President Chiou said this was his first time visiting UOM, and was profoundly impressed by its remarkable research center. In the future, both universities will carry out effective exchange by offering cooperation programs for teachers and students.

  Founded in 1949, Miyazaki University, Japan, is the result of the merger of Miyazaki College of Agriculture and Forestry, Miyazaki Prefectural Normal School for Primary Education, and Miyazaki Prefectural Advanced Technical School. Miyazaki University and Miyazaki Medical College merged to form University of Miyazaki in October 2003. Miyazaki University and Miyazaki Medical College, established in 1974, merged to form UOM in October 2003. UOM features colleges of education and culture, medicine, engineering, and agriculture.
