Lantan Chinese Orchestra Tutorial Club NCYU Again Wins Exceptional Awards in National Evaluation of Student Clubs
Student clubs of National Chiayi University have been winning exceptional awards in the National Evaluation and Demonstration of College Student Clubs for several years. In 2017, Lantan Chinese Orchestra and Tutorial Club, the only two clubs selected by the university to join the competition, stood out among 258 remarkable contestants from around the country and won exceptional awards in the “entertainment” and “service” categories respectively.

Jiang Wan-Yu, leader of the seven-time winning Lantan Chinese Orchestra, humbly said that they just continued the outstanding tradition of excellence set by the seniors. They had been winning awards each year since 2008. This year, they especially owed their thanks to the unwavering support of their advisor Cai Yu-Zheng and teachers from the Student Affairs Office, NCYU.

Tutorial Club Leader Huang Yu-Ling excitedly indicated that they had attained an exceptional prize two years ago, so all the club members had persevered in preparing for the assessment and selection this year despite moments of frustration that almost made them give up. They would not have made the achievement without the determination to fight until the end. This was not only an honor to the students, but a pride of NCYU. She expressed gratitude to the support of their advisor Wu Guang-Ming and school staff.

According to Chen Ming-Cong, NCYU’s Dean of Student Affairs, all the advisors and members of the clubs had dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to the assessment and selection event. The fact that both the clubs have secured the exceptional prizes was evidence that the efforts on the parts of the club advisor and members were unanimously acclaimed by the judging panel. Their accomplishments were a great encouragement and role model to other student clubs in the university. He hoped that more student clubs of the university will stand out in the event next year, and that there will be more service-oriented student club activities to be held.
