Ms. Cai Shu-Ling, an alumna of Class No. National-26, Taiwan Provincial Chiayi Junior Teachers College, formerly known as National Chiayi Teachers College before National Chiayi University was established after merging. She had been teaching at the Department of Early Childhood Educare, Tainan University of Technology, before dying in a car accident in 2016. Her elder brother Cai Bing-Kun and other family members donated stocks and funds worth about NT$ 3 million to NCYU on May 18th in gratitude for the education given to Ms. Cai. Each year from now on, cash dividends and funds cash dividends will be used to offer scholarships or provide financial aid to students of the Department of Education (where Ms. Cai graduated) and the Department of Early Childhood Education (to which she had been committed in her lifetime) who come from financially challenged families. The scholarship program is expected to encourage the NCYU students to write papers to contribute to periodicals based on what they learn at the university. The ultimate goal is to urge the younger students to devote themselves to academic studies.

The donation ceremony took place on the Lantan campus, attended by Ms. Cai’s brother Mr. Cai and his wife, and Cai Sheng-De, a retired teacher from NCYU. The ceremony was also joined by NCYU President Chyung Ay, Vice President Liu Rong-Yi, Vice President Huang Guang-liang, Dean of Student Affairs Ming-Chung Chen, Library Head Ding Jyh-Chyuan, Dean of International Affairs Der-Ching Yang, Chief of the Office of Research and Development Lin Han-Qian, Secretary-General Wu She-Ching, Teachers College Dean Huang Yue-Chun, College of Science and Engineering Vice Dean Xu Fang-Wen, Department of Education Chairman Lin Ming-Huang, Department of Early Childhood Education Chairman Zheng Qing-Qing and other first-level supervisors. During his speech at the ceremony, NCYU President Ay showed gratitude to Ms. Cai and her family for their philanthropic generosity. The staff have been preparing administratively since it was the first time that NCYU accepted donation of stocks and funds, and he was honored to know that everything was well prepared. He also thanked Cai Sheng-De, a former teacher of NCYU, for his valuable assistance.

Mr. Cai, elder brother of Ms. Cai, said Ms. Cai had been leading a simple, humble life throughout her lifetime.
