NCYU Arts Festival 2018 Unveils with Rodney Whitaker Quartet
Featuring a spectacular performance by Rodney Whitaker Quartet, the opening concert of NCYU Arts Festival 2018 took place at the Wenhui Hall on the Minghsiung campus on the evening of Oct. 12th (Friday). As the NCYU Arts Festival this year officially started, a non-stop feast of music will continue on to Dec. 25th. Lovers of music and art are welcome to join the festival and enjoy the great performances.
Rodney Whitaker, one of the most renowned jazz double bass players and teachers today, serves as Professor and Director of Jazz Studies, Michigan State University, United States. He has recorded over a hundred albums, and was nominated in the Emmy Awards. On the night of the opening concert, NCYU Vice President Chu Chi-Shih attended on behalf of the President. An alumni of Michigan State University, Vice President Chu greeted and chatted warmly with the musicians at the backstage before the concert. Vice President Chu presented a certificate of gratitude to the five musicians from afar.
On the concert night, the Wenhui Hall was packed with the faculty, staff members and students of NCYU, as well as people from the neighborhood. The Rodney Whitaker Quartet sent the audience into a trance with their enigmatic performances, and was met with wild applause from the crowd. All the five musicians were deeply impressed with the passionate audience.
Before the end of October, the NCYU Arts Festival 2018 still features a series of exciting events. On Oct. 18th (Thursday) at 19:30, the O-Kai Singers Concert will kick off at Zuei-Suei Guan on the Lantan campus of NCYU (please refer to the ticketing system of the National Theater Concert Hall). A concert (free admissions) given by MHL, a german a capella group, will take place at the Wenhui Hall, Minghsiung campus, NCYU, on Oct. 19th (Friday) at 15:30. Script Reading Talk Talk (free admissions) is scheduled at the International Conference Hall on the Sinmin campus of NCYU on Oct. 22nd (Monday) at 19:00. A Concert for Parents and Kids (please refer to the ticketing system of the National Theater Concert Hall) will be held at the International Conference Hall, Sinmin campus, NCYU, on Oct. 26th (Friday) at 19:30. One and all are invited to the grand events.
