Poster of the NCYU Arts Festival an outdoor concert – “Open-Air Jazz Party” NCYU Arts Festival: Year-End Art Festival 2018
NCYU Arts Festival 2018 – Fun Arts in Chiayi, organized by the Center of Humanities and Arts, National Chiayi University, has been drawing a large audience including teachers, students, and local people since the start of the opening concert on Oct. 12th. The concert featured a wide spectrum of spectacular performances that were well received, including the enormously popular “O-Kai Singers Concert,” “A Concert for Parents and Kids,” and “Masters Concert.” At the end of the year, “Year-End Art Festival,” as part of the NCYU Arts Festival 2018, offers a feast for the ears with a series of spectacular music performances by the teachers and students of the Music Department, NCYU. It will open with “Open-Air Jazz Party,” which will take place at the Student Activities Plaza on the Lantan campus on Dec. 6th (Thurs) at 19:30. It will mark as the first outdoor concert ever held for the NCYU Arts Festival.

According to Shih-Yun Hsieh, Chairperson of the Center of Humanities and Arts, the Open-Air Jazz Party will bring marvelous performances by the NCYU Jazz Band led by Lawrence Nickolai Javier, a distinguished jazz teacher from the NCYU Music Department. The band will render a jazz version of the Nutcracker Suite, suitable for people of all ages. In the Western world, the Nutcracker Suite, composed by Tchaikovsky, is a festive Christmas song. All, young and old, are invited to enjoy the feel of Christmas, and move their bodies with the music. In addition to the wonderful music shows, the Open-Air Jazz Party will also boast a commemorative T-shirt prize-drawing game, another climax of the NCYU Arts Festival, and all are welcome to try their luck and relish the memorable jazz party with a light heart. The venue of the jazz party, open to all with free admission, will be moved to the Chiaho Gymnasium if it rains.

A list of breathtaking shows of the NCYU Arts Festival 2018, scheduled in Dec., includes “Don Juan in the Mirrors – 2018 Yang Chien-Ying Piano Recital” (free admission) at the Wenhui Hall on the Minghsiung campus on Dec. 13th (Thurs) at 19:30; “Listen to NCYU – NCYU Faculty Concert” (free but tickets required) at the Wenhui Hall on the Minghsiung campus on Dec. 20th (Thurs) at 19:30; and “NCYU Ensemble – NCYU Symphony Orchestra Concert” (free admission) at the auditorium of the Chiayi Performing Arts Center on Dec. 25th (Tues) at 19:30. One and all are invited to feast your eyes and ears on the marvelous performances. For concerts that are free but require tickets, please contact the Center of Humanities and Arts, NCYU, at (05)226-3411 ext. 2921; the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Chiayi City Government; the Chiayi Performing Arts Center; or the Minhsiung Culture and Education Foundation.

As part of the NCYU Arts Festival, “Open-Air Jazz Party” will feature a commemorative T-shirt prize-drawing game.
