NCYU President Chyung Ay (middle) encouraged and gave blessings to all the club members. NCYU Student Club Service Camps: Bringing Warmth and Hope to Remote Areas
  With the winter vacation just around the corner, the student club winter vacation service camps of National Chiayi University are about to begin. At the flag presentation ceremony, held just recently, was hosted by NCYU President Chyung Ay at the Student Activity Center on the Lantan campus. He presented flags to camp leaders as an official announcement of the upcoming activities that bring warmth, care and dynamism to campuses in the remote areas. There are a total of ten student club winter vacation service camps offered by NCYU this year, starting from January 21st to 31st. The camps will take place at rural townships across Chiayi County and Tainan City, bringing positive energy and happiness to the elementary and junior high students in remote areas.

  The Lantan Chinese Orchestra is going to hold “Chiayi County Li-Ming Elementary School Winter Vacation Camp 2019” at Chiayi County Li-Ming Elementary School in Fanlu Township. The Soul Image Chinese Music Club and Special Education Volunteer Team will co-organize “Special Music Brings Special Happiness” at Nan Jing Elementary School, Shueishang Township, Chiayi County. Coordinated with professionalism and passion among all the members, the music camp is expected to introduce the young pupils to basic music concepts and skills. “Winter Comes! Welcome the New Year,” scheduled at Tung-Shih Elementary School, Dongshih Township, Chiayi County, will be organized by the Woodsman Volunteer Team. The One Way Fellowship International Volunteer Team will hold “Enlightenment – Alice’s Wondrous Adventures” in Li-Ming Elementary School in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County. Arranged by the Agronomy Volunteer Team, “Comic World Winter Camp” will take place at Yong-An Elementary School in Houbi District, Tainan City, which aims to allow the pupils to “learn from studying” and “learn by doing,” as well as to understand the importance of teamwork through games. The Astronomy Club is going to hold “Star World Equation” at the unique educational venue of Solar Exploration Center, which enable all the participants to interact and learn with much fun. In addition, the Tutorial Club will host “Braving Seven Continents Winter Camp” at Chia-Yi Yong-An Elementary School in Budai Township. The other events include: “Digital Exploration Winter Camp” at He Mu Elementary School in Jhong Pu Township, Chiayi County, by the Digital Learning Club, “Wang-Liao Winter Camp 2018” at Wang-Liao Elementary School, Dongshih Township, Chiayi County by the Torch Light Club, and “Frozen Art Camp” at Sin-Wun Elementary School, Budai Township, Chiayi County by the Handicraft Club.

  The flag presentation speech was given by You Yi-Jia and Jian Long-Cheng, representatives respectively from the Lantan Chinese Orchestra and Soul Image Chinese Music Club. They shared their experiences of making contribution through joining and holding camp events, and receiving warm feedbacks from the elementary school students they served. They also mentioned the positive impact the process delivered to all the camp members.

  Apart from presenting flags to the camp leaders, President Ay reminded the students to take great care of themselves as well as the people they will be serving. Besides, they need to learn to overcome difficulties and obstacles, which are inevitable in terms of holding camp events, through teamwork and mutual help. He expected all the students to gain confidence and reap a good harvest through serving others.
