NCYU and ROCMA signed a strategic alliance agreement. NCYU and R.O.C. Military Academy Sign a Strategic Alliance Agreement: Reciprocal Sharing through Resource Integration
National Chiayi University signed a strategic alliance agreement with the R.O.C. Military Academy, ROCMA, to promote academic and cultural exchanges, facilitate innovative research and development in science and technology, integrate the talents, equipment, technology and academic resources of both schools. The agreement was signed by NCYU President Chyung Ay and ROCMA Superintendent Chen Chan-Yih on Oct. 26th. The agreement is considered to open a new chapter in cooperation between the two schools. They will be engaged in diverse collaboration ranging from resource sharing, value co-creation, to teacher-student exchange and research cooperation.

In his remarks, President Chyung Ay indicated that NCYU became a comprehensive university after the merger of National Chiayi Teachers College and National Chiayi Institute of Technology. As this decade is marked by innovation and digital transformation, the university is devoted to developing innovative teaching methods to meet the needs of students from the Generation Z born at the turn of the century. The signing of the mutually beneficial strategic alliance agreement is expected to bring about a better future for both schools.

According to the strategic alliance agreement, both schools will be committed to resource sharing such as interlibrary cooperation through interlibrary loan services. Both will be sharing project research results, and working together in applying for research projects and funding. When organizing symposiums, they will provide relevant information and reserve places for each other. If there are students interested in and physically qualified for armed service, NCYU will encourage them to apply for the Reserve Officers Training Corp, ROTC, or the Professional (Flight) Officer Corp after graduation. Meanwhile, the ROCMA graduates studying at NCYU graduate programs may be jointly advised by both NCYU and ROCMA teachers in similar professional domains. Intercollegiate course selection is also allowed. It is hoped that teachers and students from both schools may enjoy more opportunities in learning and exchange through substantial cooperation, so that the objective of forming the strategic alliance may be achieved – reciprocal sharing through resource integration. They will establish a new landmark in terms of teacher training and armed forces recruitment, thus creating a win-win situation.

In his address, Superintendent Chen Chan-Yih expressed his gratitude for the visit of NCYU President Chyung Ay and his team. Forming an alliance is deemed to be mutually beneficial in the midst of shrinking higher education resources. They can begin from organizing student club contests, then carrying out teacher exchanges and intercollegiate course selection. It is expected to render mutual benefits to teachers and students of both schools through substantial cooperation.
